Welcome! We are at a place where we feel like sharing more information about our loss and we feel like this is a great opportunity to let you know. We hope that you will please consider making a donation to this amazing organization that helps all kinds of bereaved parents cope with the loss of their babies born too early, or shortly after birth. This is something our family has needed greatly.
As a family, we went in for our 20 week ultrasound. Jude was especially excited to see the baby on the screen! We immediately knew something was wrong the way the ultrasound tech spoke with us. We met with our doctor, who we love and trust, and got some very terrifying news. She said it looked like Spina Bifida and she wasn't sure of the severity. We were heartbroken, but immediately went to see a perinatologist who confirmed. Jonah was diagnosed with the most severe form of Spina Bifida called a severe myelomeningocele. He was also diagnosed with dextrocardia and numerous other malformations of organs, extremities, the brain, and the head and face. We were told to go get another opinion, for piece of mind. We were told we did everything right, nothing could've stopped this. Everything was again confirmed, and they found more. We were crushed to learn that our sweet, tiny baby that we wanted, couldn't wait to meet, and worked so hard for was essentially dying in my womb. They told us we had to prepare and we wanted to find a name; something that meant something to us. Jonah passed away and was then born on Saturday, May 16th, 2015 at 3:50pm. We chose to birth him, so that we could have closure and for Jonah to know how deeply he was loved and wanted. He was baptized that same day, surrounded with love and peace. We will miss him greatly, but will never forget him, for he is our son.
