Raegan Grace Harris was born silently into the arms of Jesus at 23 weeks on May 20, 2015 at 3:28pm. She weighed 1lb 5.8 oz and 10 inches long. Raegan was diagnosed with Turners Syndrome and a Cystic Hygroma with hydrops on April 13, 2015 at 17 weeks. The doctors told us our little Rae would have a very slim chance to make it to full term. They said her heart would likely stop beating sometime during the pregnancy. A lot of women choose to terminate a pregnancy after knowing they're baby only has a very slim chance to make it to birth. We never gave this a thought, because we wanted to give our Raegan every fighting chance she could get. She fought hard, all the way up until our Lord called her home. We could not have gotten through saying goodbye to our angel without our amazing and supportive family, friends, and Mercy Heart Prints. We miss our little Raegan every day, but we know she is watching down on us from a better place. We want to raise awareness for Stillborn babies, and raise money for a great cause. The programs that are provided to familes going through loss are amazing!

A little about Turners Syndrome:

Turners Syndrome is a chromosomal condition that affects development in females. This condition occurs in about 1 in 2,500 newborn girls worldwide, but it is much more common amount pregnancies that do not survive to term. Turner syndrome is related to the X chromosome in each cell: females have two X chromosomes. Turner syndrome results when one normal X chromosome is present in a female's cells and the other sex chromosome is missing or structurally altered. Even though Turner Syndrome is considered a genetic disorder, it is not passed to the child from the mom or dad.

Cystic Hygromas are cysts or a group of cysts mostly on the neck and back. It is caused by an error in the development of lymph sacs and lymph vessels as the baby is developing during pregnancy. 60% of cystic Hygromas result from chromosomal abnormalities. Cystic Hygromas can spread to the body cavities resulting in hydrops, which results in more fetal deaths.
